When I told people I had lived in Armenia, Colombia, there were several reactions expected:
- Kim Kardashian! “It’s where she is from, right?”
- You should travel to Turkey! “It’s close, right?”
Those reactions refer to Republic of Armenia, a country located in Eastern Europe, a former Soviet Republic that gained its independence in 1991 and has a population of 3.1 mio people. No, I didn’t live in that country. Try to move the map a bit to the left and find South America.
Colombia is located in the north of South America and a small city called Armenia is quite in the center of it.
Colombia consists of 32 departments. Departments are like provinces in Indonesia They have capitals, and Armenia is the capital of a small, in fact one of the smallest departments called Quindio (I really like that name). Oh, and Armenia is called the Miracle City…
